The Search For The Perfect Christmas Tree..

Thanksgiving weekend I took my kids to a local tree farm to select and cut our own Christmas tree. This is a fun tradition to start and documenting our trip was a must. I used some fabulous Globecraft & Piccolo products to help capture the memory!

Supplies:

G&P Glastique Gloss Finishing Glaze
G&P Extra Large Layered Pine Tree
G&P Mini Clear Globes
G&P Siam Silver Enamel Powder
G&P Vintage Silver Enamel Powder
G&P Mossy Glen Enamel Powder
Simple Stories Christmas Paper
My Mind's Eye "All Is Bright" Twine
Memento Fireworks Sprays

To make a fun and unique background, I used the bookboard piece that the Extra Large Layered Pine Tree came enclosed in as a mask. A  few sprays of mist and I made a bit of a "forest" backdrop.

After covering the tree pieces with patterned papers and embossing the edges with Siam Silver and Vintage Silver Enamel Powders, I built it onto the masked background. I used Glastique Gloss Finishing Glaze to adhere the pieces together.

I printed some photos I loved from the trip and traced some Mini Clear Globe shapes onto them, then cut them out.

The pictures were adhered to patterned paper, the globes were glued on top, and twine was placed over the edges. I cut them out of the paper and they were ready to place on the tree.

After adding the photos, the layout was quickly finished with some alpha stickers.

Basically Bare and Xyron Fun!

Basically Bare and Xyron are swapping this week!

I was very excited to work with the Xyron Create-a-Sticker. It makes adhering Basically Bare chipboard a breeze! All you have to do is place the pieces onto the Create-a-Sticker, crank the handle, and you will have a sticker. The adhesive is strong, and your embellishments will not fall off of the page, trust me!

Here is a star from the Basically Bare Celestial Set going through the Create-a-Sticker..

Too easy, right? I had my layout finished and embellished in record time thanks to the Xyron Create-a-Sticker!

It's The Little Things That Matter..

This Thanksgiving I'm doing my best to remember that it really is the little things that matter the most. We have had a tough autumn in this house, and as the holidays have quickly approached I actually have not been in the mood for celebrating. But I am thankful for what I do have, and I hope that no matter how difficult things may be for all of my friends and family out there that they can also focus on those simple pleasures. This layout of my son featuring Moxxie's Musically Inclined collection touches on one of the things I am thankful for. My little guy knows how to slow down and enjoy the little things, and I intend to do the same! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Christmas Card Time!

I cropped with friends yesterday at Archiver's. I had a few layouts to do, and when I finished them I started up my Christmas cards for the year. I had packed some kraft cards and My Mind's Eye 6 x 6 Santa Claus pad. At the store, I bought some My Mind's Eye twine and Simple Stories stickers to make my cards. They are simple but sweet! Have you started your cards yet this year, or do you make your own? Here's what I got done yesterday..

November Moxxie Blog Hop Featuring Forever Family!

Are you ready for another fun Moxxie blog hop?  For November we are focusing on the Forever Family line. Check it out:

This amazing color palette is perfect for family portraits, heritage
photos, and even a pretty fall-themed layout! The front sides of the
paper are title papers for each member of the family, and the back sides
have a variety of both masculine and feminine patterns for you to use
to accent your photos. For card makers and papercrafters, the designs are small so even on a trimmed piece of paper, you are still going to get the colors and textures of the large design.

In addition to these great papers, the embellishments will help give
your creations a family-type flair. Use them as titles, journaling
spaces, accent pieces, and embellishment clusters to finish off your pages.

The Moxxie Muses have put together some awesome ideas for this line and you could win the collection.  All you have to do is hop through the blogs and comment on each one.  For an extra entry, comment on the Facebook page and "like" us if you have not already.  How simple is that?
Comments need to be made by midnight, Tuesday November 6th and the winner will be announced on Wednesday the 7th on the Moxxie Blog. Our international customers and fans are free to play along if they are willing to pay the shipping in the event of their win.

Here are the blog links for hopping.  Just start at the top (Moxxie blog) and work your way down the list until you have visited all eleven blogs.  We are so happy to have you joining us and hope you enjoy the projects we have made. Happy hopping!

My project for today's hop is an altered printer's tray. I love decorating these, and Forever Family is just perfect for this type of project. I made this as a birthday present for my children's grandmother. What grandparent doesn't love pictures of their grandbabies, right? She loved receiving it as much as I loved making it!

Some Fall Scrapping To Share!

This morning I was in the mood to scrap some fall pics and I turned to Farmhouse Paper Company for the paper. I love their Sugar Hill collection. It is perfect for layering up lots of colors and textures. You know me, that is one of my favorite things to do! Here's my first page, a pic of my son in the pumpkin patch last year. A HUGE thank you to my friend Sara for the RAK of the flowers, leaves, and mini clothespin! They look great on here!

I also scrapped a photo of my daughter on the hayride returning from the pumpkin patch. I loved making the little "pumpkin patch embellie cluster" on the bottom!

Do you like it? What are you scrapping today? Have you done any fall layouts yet this year? Link them up so I can see!

So Excited Today!!

As you may know, I have been lucky to work with Basically Bare for just over a year now. Angela Pruitt is one cool lady who actually puts up with my crazy ideas. For that, she should get an award!! She has helped me realize my dream of product design, and today I am excited to share that Basically Bare has produced yet another product from my wacky imagination! This time it is big and bold, and makes a statement. What could it be?? Have a look..

That's right, I designed a mini album, my first! I was inspired to do an album that would actually stand up and "display itself" when finished. It has two "leg pages" that will hold it up when it's completed. This would be a great album for treasured family photos. You can flip the pages to display different photos every day. What do you think of this idea? Fun, right?

I cannot let you go without telling you that Basically Bare has released TWO other new albums as well! They are also amazing, Basically Bare is GREAT at offering many different album designs. This means that you will always be able to find the right album to suit your specific project needs. You HAVE to check these albums out today! Have a look at them!

                                                   Casually Covered Album:

                                                 Delightful Doors Gate-fold Album:

To read more about these albums, check them out here at the Basically Bare blog!
So which is your favorite album, and how would you use it??

Printer's Tray, Halloween Style!

OK, so it isn't a "real" printer's tray. It was the tray a magnetic doll and all of it's dress pieces originally came in. It was at the Goodwill without any of the doll parts when my mom found it and picked it up. She then gave it to me, knowing I LOVE altering things like this. What a great mom, huh! I decided to make some Halloween decor with it. I began by painting it with a mixture of orange and terracotta paints.

Then I used Moxxie Midnight Dreary papers to fill in all the openings. I made a spiderweb of string and placed the "All Hallow's Eve" die cuts on top of that. A few glittery bat and tree embellishments finished off the piece. I love this and am very happy to add it to my Halloween decor!
